Troubles in Polygon Display
Troubles in Display of 3D Diagram
- Procedures in displaying polygons in 3D diagrams.
- numerical calculations of vertex, edge and facet in the 3D polyhedrons which is the core numerical imformation.
- Graphical representation of the 3D polyhedrons wich can be rotated in any direction.
- Select polygons to be displayed in a diagram.
- Determine the respective colors.
- Determine the sequence of displying polygons to be displayed.
- Origins of troubles
- Errors in calculating vertex, edge, and facets are seldom because the algoriths are well considered and developped.
- On the other hand, the algorithms of selecting polygons to be displayed are simple so that sometimes some errors will happen. This is true particularly when the T-dG plane is used where the facets are not necessarily flat but slightly bent because the temperature dependent heat capacity is used and also when many species and their polygons should be displayed. For examples, in the three dimensional Ellingham diagrm, more than 100 polygons should be considered whether those polygons should be displayed or in what sequence should be adopted.
- How to avoid troubles
- Although more advanced algorithms shouldb be tryed, the followings methods will be suggested for the time being.
- Reduce the number of polygons or the displayed species by
- Change the range limits to narrow the display regions.
- Try first the two dimensional diagrams with a less number of elements.
